Daily J are an intriguing four-piece band consisting of, the Paul brothers trio, a musically talented band of brothers and their friend Rick Everard from Auckland, New Zealand. The band consists of Jayden (guitar and lead vocals), Jonny (bass), Jesse (synth and sax) and Rick (drummer).

With tens of millions of streams and sold out tours, Daily J have self-released ‘Happy Slides’.

As their first single from their upcoming third studio album, they have written a dreamy indie-pop song formed from their shared experiences of homesickness off the back of touring. The music video accompanying the track is entirely made up of press shoots and tour footage and, after watching, it makes sense Daily J have made ‘Happy Slides’ sound as sentimental and deeply personal as it does.

‘Happy Slides’ is infectious, immersive and the perfect hazy summer song. If you haven’t heard of Daily J, their signature indie- psychedelic sound is richly conveyed on this track with trippy vocals, otherworldly synths, intricate guitar riffs and luscious drumming.

For the first taste of the new album, this captures a bittersweet lethargy and a sense of wistfulness. Saying that, it is still uniquely upbeat and they breeze past their melancholy into an inspiringly euphoric instrumental near the end of the track.

To summarise how we feel about the 'Happy Slides', “I like the sound of you on replay”, as Jayden puts it perfectly. We are looking forward to what their forthcoming album has in store.

‘Happy Slides’ is digitally available from 9th May 2024.
